How to choose a blog name -Blogging Tips

There are many ways to choose your blog name. Blog name is very important to show the real image of your blog. Sometimes people choose their blog name and later on the deviate from the purpose make a negative impression on readers, as the first impression is always the last impression. In fact, the content of the blog matters but somehow the blog name also matters.  It is just like a soldier having a rank of Major selling vegetables in the market. Precisely, if I say, blog name reflects the content of the blog.  There are few rules in choosing a blog name and we are going to discuss it right away.

Choosing a name for General Blog

General Blogs are very common where people for arts lover. In General blogging people express their own thinking, their own generated ideas, views about something, criticism either on a book or event, philosophy etc. Something which is related to you and your experience.

• Choosing a name for General Blog is very easy.You can use your own name, like if I give you an example (http://ifrakhaliq.com). The name of the author is Ifra Khaliq and she is an artist, she decided to make a blog on her name and she did it. 
• Another example I should mention is about the ideology of President Barak Obama, the Change.  The author decided to spread the message and ideology of President Barak Obama so he decided to make a blog on (http://www.yeswecan.com).
• You can use your own name if it is available. Go for .com TLD. If .com is not available go for other TLD’s like .net, .info, .org. Better not go for .org because it represents the organization so it is better to choose it on region specific like .us, .eu,  .pk etc. Somehow you will be able to show that it represents your name and you are going to make it a brand through your unique and informative content.
• The option is to find a unique TLD. The example of wordpress CEO, Matt Mullenweg. He chose (http://ma.tt). Now it is really amazing and versatile. Unique and very easy to access and remember. Readers just have to remember the Matt. Though they will not bookmark it but it is none of your business. They remember your name. Take it as a brand and enjoy. Smiley. 

 

Choosing a name for Niche Blog

• Now this part is somehow difficult and you will get a lot of choice which is hard to decide because every name will attract you but it will not give you guarantee to be related with your content. However, we by doing this, will keep some rules in mind.
• If your blog is related to technology, choose your domain name wisely. In technology, if you are an aviation expert and you can manage the blog on aviation completely, your domain name must somehow reflect the content. In the past I was planning to launch aviation related blog so I went for (http://aviationdiscovery.com). It was a good domain name but I didn’t go for it because I’m still considering myself as a student of aviation. By the way the domain is still available and you can buy it.
• The other thing you have to kept in mind that domain name should not be complex. Readers always try to remember the name instead of bookmarking it so it is better to choose a small name like (http://extremetech.com). Easy to remember!
• You can choose a multi word name but with the rule of easy to remember. Here I want to mention very fast growing Pakistani Blogs (http://mybloggerlab.com) and (http://mybloggertricks.com). Both are comprises with three words and both are very easy to remember.
• Before selecting your domain name keep in mind that you have expertise in a specific niche and you are representing your site through your domain name.
• Contents may not be 100% relevant to the domain name but the major portion should cover the specific purpose.
• Choose wisely and take your time, research on it, once you are done with choosing try not to leave it and put everything in your blog. Be specific.

 

Choosing a name for Multi Niche Blog

• For multi niche blog it depends on how you can make it. Taking an example of my blog (http://ozynetwork.com), the first name shows the abbreviation of my name that is: Osama Zia Yousafzai, the other part shows the network on which my blog is based. I have chosen this name as it looks like a versatile. I can put everything in it. Isn’t it?
• Choosing a name for multi niche blog  is relatively easy. If your blog mainly focuses on technology like Smart phones, Cars, gadgets, biology, chemistry or physics you can choose like (http://focusa2z.com). The other very popular domain name from which we can get inspiration is (http://techcrunch.com).

You have to take suggestions from different people who are into blogging or web-designing.  Moreover social networking sites have different groups related to blogging. People there suggest good names for blogs but the final decision always depends on you.
